2008 VARSITY GIRLS SOCCER RESULTS...

September 27, 2008
Tecumseh 2 Urbana 1
The Tecumseh Lady Arrow Soccer Team earned their sixth victory of the season with a hard fought 2-1 win over the Urbana Lady Hillclimbers on Saturday. The Hillclimbers displayed good speed and passing ability early as they were able to move the ball into the finishing third with regularity putting pressure on the Arrow defense to make stops of their forward advances. The Tecumseh defense led by Ally Triplett and Kelly Karjala was up to the task however and had several nice stops in the first 15 minutes of play. The Arrow offense on the other hand struggled with midfield possession and as such was unable to connect enough quality passes to generate scoring chances. Go to complete report by Tom Minutolo.

September 24, 2008
Tecumseh 3 Shawnee 0
The Tecumseh Lady Arrow Soccer Team won their fifth game of the season at home against a very scrappy Shawnee Lady Brave squad by a final score of 3-0. The game was very physical from the start and both teams appeared to be evenly matched. Shawnee did a nice job with midfield passing and possession but a strong defensive backfield comprised of seniors Ally Triplett, Shawna Penny, and junior Kelly Karjala kept the Braves from getting quality shots on goal. September 22, 2008
Tecumseh 1 Tippecanoe 4
The Tecumseh Lady Arrow Soccer Team saw its record fall to 4-5-1 and 2-3-1 in the CBC with a 4-1 loss to the Tipp City Lady Red Devils on Monday. This game was lost in the first few minutes of play as Tipp scored four times in eight minutes and it appeared as if a rout was on. Speed of play was a big factor early and although the Arrows quickly made the adjustment unfortunately the damage had already been done. Go to complete report by Tom Minutolo.

September 20, 2008
Tecumseh 7 Springfield 0
The Tecumseh Lady Arrows Soccer Team evened their record at 4-4-1 on Saturday posting an 8-0 win over the Springfield Lady Wildcats in non-conference action. Springfield, who plays in a very tough Central Division of the Great Western Ohio Conference, was looking for its first win of the season as the newly formed program between Springfield North and South is searching for its identity. Tecumseh 0 Troy 8
The Tecumseh Lady Arrow soccer Team met another tough Great Western Ohio Conference opponent in Troy on Saturday and came out on the wrong end of an 8-0 score. The Lady Trojans were riding the crest of a 7 game winning streak and were not about to let up against their non-conference visitors on this day. Earlier in the week Troy played a won a close 2-1 decision against their main GWOC North Division foe in Sidney and with first place at hand they were ready for dessert. The Arrows came into the match short on key personnel due to injury and had to rely on younger players tostep up their game in order to compete. Go to complete report by Tom Minutolo.

September 10, 2008
Tecumseh 2 Graham 2
The Tecumseh Lady Arrow Varsity Soccer Team fought their way back to post a well earned 2-2 tie against the Graham Lady Falcons on Wednesday. Graham came into the game with a 4-2 record and a lost of swagger as they were ranked 7th in the latest MVSSCA coach’s Division II poll. and were looking to improve upon their Central Buckeye Conference resume. Early in the game it looked as if the Falcons were going to have their way as they dominated possession and were moving the ball easily into the Arrow defensive third of the field. Tecumseh 1 Northwestern 3
The Tecumseh Lady Arrow Soccer Team suffered their second loss of the season at home by a 3- 1 score while facing the Northwestern Lady Warrior squad on a sultry Wednesday evening. Throughout the first half the Arrows struggled to maintain possession of the ball in the midfield and appeared to be having difficulty applying enough defensive pressure perhaps due to the hot and humid conditions outside as well as Northwestern’s superior speed and passing ability. Freshman Chloe West utilized her speed and shooting skills to break thru on the left side and score the first of her two goals at 32:36. The Arrows picked up their defensive pressure at that point and held the Warriors in check until West broke thru again at 10:24. For the 2-0 halftime lead.

The Tecumseh Lady Arrows Soccer Team is off to a good start in the pre season. The girls have defeated Stebbins and Bethel and lost a heart breaker in the last seconds of the game to a powerhouse Sidney team. The team will finish the scrimmage sessions on Aug. 23rd against Greenville. Coach Jim Paxton has 11 seniors on his varsity team and has high expectations for the upcoming year. Competition for the starting positions has been intense and all the girls are working hard. The team opens the regular season at home against a strong Piqua team on Aug. 28th at 2pm.

Oct. 13 v
Miami East
Tecumseh 1 Miami East 3.

The loud roar coming from Tecumseh's Spitzer Stadium wasn't the thunder or the results of a super-sonic fly by from wright-pat.  It was the Tecumseh Lady Arrows seniors being escorted around the stadium by local Harley Davidson riders. The bikers donated their time and beautiful machines to give the girls a fitting send off on their last regular season home game. The surprised seniors were sent to the athletic building where their rides were hiding. Athletic director Craig Eier told the girls to go out back and pick one. Apprensive at first, the girls realized what a treat this would be and hopped on. The deep throated growl of the shiny machines roared throughout the stadium as the girls were driven past the cheering crowd all around the field to the visitors side, were they met their parents. Walking across the 50 yard line for the last time was a teary-eyed experience for the both girls and parents. Coaches, parents, team-mates and seniors met in front of the home crowd for hugs, handshakes, pictures and tears as the 2004 Lady Arrows waved to the crowd one last time before warming up for the game.

Oh yeah: there was a game played tonight as the Arrows went out in style. Senior Mirriah Myers scored with 6 minutes left in the 1st half and the Arrows won their final home game 1-0. For Myers, the teams leading scorer it was her 12th goal of the season. Thank you Lady Arrows. The Lady Arrows traveled to Greenon on Wednesday to face the Knights.  The stingy defense kept the Arrows away from the scoring area most of the night and Greenon won the game 3-0. One scary moment for the Arrows. Senior goal-keeper Lindsey Lorenz had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital. While making a save, a Greenon player slid into the face of Lorenz. The bleeding could not be controlled on the field so the squad was called on Lindsey was taken to Mercy hospital for a possible broken nose.

The Tecumseh Lady Arrows soccer team saw their season record go to 6-6-1 last week with a win at Kenton ridge and losses to 2 highly ranked teams. The Arrows traveled to Kento Ridge on Wednesday trying to get back on the winng track. The much improved Cougers kept the Arrows away fron the net until Senior Renee Rowland tapped a nifty pass from captain Mirriah Myers passed a stunned goal keeper at the 26 minute mark of the 1st half. K-R was able to tie the game but again it was Rowland putting the Arrows ahead with an un-assisted goal with just 6 minutes left in the half. Kenton Ridge wasn't done yet and tied the game shortly into the 2nd half. The Arrows then regrouped and controlled the pase of the game and Whitney Brock interceptd a pass and fired a shot into thye back of the net.  The game was picking up speed with both teams showing flashes but no goals were scored until Katie Dixon scored her 4th goal of the season with just 2:22 left in the game and the Arrows had their 6th win if the season by a 4-2 score. Reported by: Ed True
Sept. 27 v Northwestern Tecumseh 1 Northwestern 3.  The Arrows traveled to Northwestern on Monday hoping to upset the Lady Warriors. The game was physical and close with Northwestern taking a 1-0 lead into the half. The Arrows came out strong in the 2nd stanza but the Warriors were able to fire a second goal passed keeper Lindsey Lorenz and the Arrows found themselves deep in a hole. After some rough and tough play the Warriors were called for a penalty and Senior Jenny True fired a direct kick toward the net and Mirriah Myers finished the play scoring her  11th goal of the season. The game stayed 2-1 for much of the half with the play continuing to be physical. Several more fouls were called and more probably could have been. Northwestern sealed the game when they scored on a corner kick and the game ended  3-1. Reported by: Ed True

The Tecumseh Lady Arrows improved their league record to 5-1-1 last week by defeating Bellefontaine and Springfield North.the week started out with a defeat to highly ranked Northmont 5-0. The Arrows could only manage 3 shots on goal while the T-Bolts took 29 and found the back of the net 5 times.

The Arrows, however, didn't let the loss affect their spirit and on Wednesday, keeper Lindsey Lorenz recorded her 2nd shutout of the season and the Arrows beat visiting Bellefontaine 3-0. Senior mid-fielder Whitney Brock scored her first goal of the year, half way through the first half and the Arrows never looked back .Krista Mollette, also scoring her first goal of the season put Tecumseh ahead 2-0 and late in the half senior Katie Dixon scored on a nifty trap and turn shot. The game ended with the Arrows allowing only 3 shots at goal. Saturdays game with Springfield North was expected to be very physical and it proved to be just that. The Lady Panthers came out fast and rough. That didn't prove a problem as Senior Tri-Captain Mirriah Myers scored just 90 seconds into the game from a great pass from Renee Rowland and Amy Quinton finished off a scoring chance at the 22 minute mark, off of a direct kick. North wasn't done yet as they brought the score to within 1 when they scored just 3 minutes after the Quinton goal. The game continued to be rough and physical as North was called for 11 fouls and Tecumseh was whistled down 3 times. The fouls proved to be costly for the lady Panthers as the next 2 Tecumseh goals were scored off of the awarded direct kicks after the fouls. With 11 minutes left in the game Danielle Mather re-directed a Jenny True kick and the Arrows had some breathing room. with the Panthers continuing to foul the Arrows, True again taking the kick sent the ball toward the middle where Myers received the ball and scored her second goal and the game ended with a 4-2 victory for the home team. The Lady Arrows were only able to put 5 shots at the net but were able to score on four of them. The Panthers put 9 shots at Lindsey Lorenz but she came up big when challenged and is proving to be worthy of being named one of the team captains. The Arrows face a tough week as they travel to Northwestern on Monday; to Kenton Ridge on Wednesday and then on to take on the 31 ranked Troy Trojans

After a disappointing tie to Indian Lake the Tecumseh Lady Arrows came back out to the field like the team they are. The girls probably played one of their most impressive games of the year against the Raiders of Ben Logan.

With great passes and good ball handling the Arrows scored the games first goal 13 minutes into the 1st half when Renee Rowland netted the ball after receiving a beautiful pass from Myers. The Raiders answered that  goal just 2 minutes later. It appeared that Myers put the Arrows back in the lead when she rebounded the ball back into the net after a shot from True but a referee's call dis-allowed the goal. That call didn't affect the girls spirit of effort. They calmly played the game with skill and patience and Rowland scored again after a direct kick rolled towards the corner and she calmly placed the ball into the net. That  ended the scoring for the half. The 2nd half started just like the first with the Arrows playing like the mature team they are. Ball control and solid defense made the game a pleasure to watch.  Senior Whitney Brock, playing probably her finest game this year, showed her ball-handling  skills with great control and beautiful open field passes. The Arrows put shot after shot at the raider net but couldn't dent the twine with several shots going just wide or inches over the top bar. That however didn't frustrate the girls as they continued to play with poise and style. When the Raiders did manage to bring the ball up field the defense quickly stopped the threat. Meagan Horner and Chelsea Parr defended the outside and seldom allowed the ball to the middle. When Ben Logan did show a threat, the middle defense quickly turned the ball the other direction and  started the Arrows on the attack. Coach Paxton had the luxury of substituting without losing skill. Danielle Mather and Kelly Deel showed versatility by playing both offensive and defensive positions. Amy Quinton Jamie Foster and Amber Maloris got playing time and performed well. The game ended with a 2-1 victory but I believe more importantly was the mental victory the Arrows earned by a performance that the coach, parents and the girls themselves should be proud of.

Indian Lake

The Indian Lake girls soccer team had the memory of a lopsided loss to the Tecumseh Arrows last year and were determined to make amends for that game.  The Lady Lakers came out on a mission and scored the games first goal early in the half and kept the momentum. With most of the Arrows starting squad on the bench the Lakers scored again late in the period and held a 2 goal lead at halftime. Coach Paxton reinserted his first team for the start of the 2nd half and they quickly responded and tied the game with goals from Seniors Renee Rowland and Mirriah Myers. Indian lake however wasn't done and answered the Arrows attack and took the lead back  making the score 3-2. Again the Arrows had to fight back and again Myers tied the game. It looked like the Arrows might pull this one out when Nina Rich scored the go ahead goal for the Arrows with just 4 minutes left in the game but the Lady Lakers scored a disputed goal just 2 minutes later. It appeared that the Lakers had 2 players off-side but the referee saw differently and allowed the goal to stand. The game ended in a 4-4 tie bringing the Arrows league record  to 2-1-1. The Arrows continued to attack and put 4 shots over the crossbar before Senior striker Mirriah Myers netted the first of her 4 goals after intercepting an Urbana goal kick and working her way through the Hill climbers defense and scoring from in close. Nina Rich scored for the Arrows at 17:42  off another assist from Dixon.  Myers finished the first period scoring after again intercepting a goal kick and finishing with a low shot. The second half started the same as the first when Renee Rowland scored her second of the day just 2 minutes into the period and Myers scored her third just 60 seconds later. Both of those goals were assisted by Dixon who had 4 assists in the game. Arrow goal keeper Lindsy Lorenz was relieved from net early in the 2nd half and was and replaced by sophomore Jesse Haas who played well when tested. After a brief rest Lorenz was inserted into the front line and answered by serving up 2 assists. The first to Myers who finished her scoring for the day and the second to  defender Jenny True. As well as the offense plated a great job was turned by the defense. Lead by senior Jenny True the Arrows allowed only 3 shots and very seldom allowed the Hillclimbers any room to launch ay kind of attack. Freshman Jackie Coffman is doing a great job at the sweerper position and sophomores Danielle Mather and Kelly Deel and junior Chelsea Parr are covering the outside.
Upcoming for the Arrows is the continuation of the Piqua Game on Monday the 13th and at Indian Lake on the 15th and back home against Ben Logan on the 18th.
Sept. 4 v
Wayne

The game ended with 5-0 victory for the Warriors.

Tecumseh 0 Wayne 5.
The Lady Arrows knew coming into this game that they would have to play one of the best games of their season if they were to have a chance against the highly ranked Warriors. The Warriors are a strong and physical team and they proved why they are one of the most respected teams in the area. Wayne's speed and ball control got them off to an early lead and they never looked back. The Arrows fought hard and had several chances but the physical play and the high heat and humidity took a toll on the girls.  Tempers started rising and there were many penalties called in the second half including a yellow card given to a Warrior player for unnecessary roughness. Reported by: Ed True

The Tecumseh Lady Arrows finally got the 2004 soccer season started.  The first game was suspended due to weather so the girls had to wait to start the season until the Lady Braves of Shawnee visited Spitzer stadium. The Lady Arrows showed that the delay didn't hurt them as they controlled the play throughout the game.  The Arrows  had several shots early in the game with midfielder Jenny True hitting the cross-bar from far out but the Braves goal keeper kept the ball out of the net until Senior Mirriah Myers scored the season's first goal. Myers scored off of a corner kick with 17:47 left in the first half. The Arrows continued to control the play but a defensive lapse allowed The Braves to fire a goal past keeper Lindsey Lorenz with 9 minutes left to play in the half and the first stanza ended 1 to 1. After a fire-breathing speech at half time by coach Jim Paxton the Lady Arrows came out like they were on fire. Myers scored her second goal just 10 minutes into the period and Katie Dixon scored again just 90 seconds later. The Arrow defense completely shut down the Braves and Lorenz had only 1 save in the last half. Dixon added a goal with 5 minutes left in the contest and the arrows came away with a 4-1 victory to start the season. Reported by: Reported By: Ed True
